Definition of HDD
Even though we often use and are close to us, it is not certain that we really understand what HDD is? So let’s discuss it one by one.
HDD or Hard Disk Drive is one of the hardware used to store data on a laptop or computer. The operating system, software and various files on our laptops are stored on the hard disk drive.

1. PATA Type Hard Drive
PATA (Parallel Advwnce Technology Attachment) is a drive which is also known as Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE) and Enhanced Integrated Drive Electronics (EIDE).
This label corresponds to the type of interface used to connect the disk drive to the CPU board. This type of drive uses a 40 or 80 kael wire with a 40-pin connector.
The 40 wire cables were used in older and slower hard disks, while the 80 wire cables were used to make them faster. But now, PATA type hard disks have been replaced by SATA hard disks.
2.Serial ATA (SATA) Type Hard Disk
This type of hard disk uses a different connector than PATA. The power adapter used is different from the IDE. There are major differences between the two types of hard disks. SATA is thinner and has a faster data interface than PATA.
However, the difference in speed between PATA and SATA drives cannot be distinguished if they have the same RPM. SATA drives are more efficient because in addition to being faster they also use less power.
3.Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) Hard Disk
This type is almost similar to an IDE hard drive. However, it has a higher playback rate when compared to SATA or IDE. IDE Drives and SATA Drives typically spin at speeds of 7,200 rpm, while SCSI drives are capable of spinning at speeds of 10,000 rpm to 15,000 rpm.
With a higher RPM, data access can be done even faster. However, this causes damage to the hard disk to become damaged more quickly. SCSI hard disks require an able to operate the interface between the DVD and the motherboard on the computer.
Difference between HDD and SSD
Talking about hard disks, there are terms that we often encounter, besides the term HDD there is also the term SSD, now for more details, let’s talk about the differences between the two types. SSD stands for Solid State Drives.
HDD is a hard disk with a type of moving component, while SSD uses semiconductor components to perform its function as data storage.
SSDs run much faster and are more resistant to damage. However, with this capability, SSDs are priced more expensive than HDDs.
