Method 1:
Alt Codes
Step 1. Sign in your Google account and open Google Docs.
Step 2.Then open the document you want to edit from your drive, or you can create a new button from the upper left-hand menu bar.
Step 3. Now activate the “Numlock” key in your keyboard.
Note: A small light might light up when you activate it.
Step 4.Press and hold on the “Alt” key, and now you have to enter a number sequence that triggers the accented letter. E.g., Holding “Alt” key and typing “142”, commands the doc to give “Ä”.

Step 5. Release the “Alt” key once you type the number sequence, and the accented letter will appear in your Google Docs document.
Method 2:
Google Docs Special Characters
Step 1.Sign in your Google account and open Google Docs.
Step 2.Then open the document you want to edit from your drive, or you can create a new button from the upper left-hand menu.
Step 3.Now move the cursor to the point where you want to add an accented letter, select a blank space and then click the “Insert” button from the upper left-hand menu bar.
Step 4.Select “Special Characters”. And a new dialog box will appear.
Step 5. You can select the various accented letter from the dialog box and click on it to insert it in the document.
Note: You can even search or draw a symbol in this dialog box
