It is no surprise that there are a number of different ways to rename files and folders in the Finder … so keep reading to see if I know them all!

To change the name of a file or folder on Mac, simply click on the file you want to rename, you will see that it is marked with a different color from the others:

With the file selected, press the Enter  key (symbol  ↩) on your keyboard and you’re done. Type the new name of the file or folder.
