A brief step by step guide to set up a document in MLA format in Google Docs:

Step 1. Open a Blank document in Google Docs.

Step 2. Select the ‘Font’ option and choose the Times Roman font from the drop-down menu.

Step 3. Now select change the font size to 12.

Step 4. Click on the Line spacing option near alignment options and select Double line spacing from it.

Step 5. Double click on the top blank page of the document; this will automatically create a header space for you that is required in MLA format Google Docs.

Step 6. Select the same font options that we selected above for the rest of the document, and select right alignment option, as well as the header, has to right-aligned in MLA format.

Step 7. Type your last name in the header and then insert Page number by selecting ‘Insert’ option from the tab above and then choose ‘Header & Page Number’, then ‘Page Number’, and now select the 1st option which is highlighted in the picture below.

Step 8. Click on the document and type your name and the person to document is to submitted, project’s subject name, and then date.

Step 9. Now type the title in the next line and then centre align it.

Step 10. Press Enter key and choose Right Alignment option.

Step 11. Now press Tab Key and start with the introduction of the document, and then enter in the next line press tab key and write the body of the project.
