Step 1. Unlock your iPhone and go to settings application. It is the app with a grey icon on your home page, there by default.
Step 2. You will see your name at the top of this page.
Step 3. Scroll down on the ‘Settings’ page till you find your accounts settings. The option will be called ‘Passwords & Accounts’.
Step 4. When you open this page, you will accounts which have already been added to your ph1. Since you want to add a new mail account, tap on ‘Add Account’.
Step 5. Select your email provider from the options you see on the next page. Google mail has been used here as an example.
Step 6. As soon as you click on Google, a new page will open wherein you will be asked to fill in your account details. Enter your Gmail account which needs to be added to your iPhone.
Step 7. Next, you will be redirected to a new page where you will have to enter your Gmail password. Enter your password and wait for a few minutes for Gmail to verify your account.
Step 8. Once your account gets verified, you will be asked the applications you want to sync with your newly added account. Mail will already be selected by default. If you are alright with other syncing options too, select on ‘Save’.
Step 9. The web page will close and you will be taken back to the ‘Passwords & Accounts’ page. You will see that your new mail account has been added to the pre-existing accounts. The process has been completed. You will now receive emails directly into the iPhone mail app from your added account.
Manual set-up
Step 1. In case your email provider is not showing in the displayed options, tap on ‘Other’.
Step 2. On this page, you will have to choose among the account options. Since a new mail account has to be added, click on ‘Add Mail Account’.
Step 3. On the next page, you will be asked to enter all your account details. Fill in the required fields.
Step 4. Once done, your iPhone will run a search for your account. Till will take only a few moments.
Step 5. When it has been verified, a new page will open and you will be asked to fill in rest of the details. In case you access your mail through multiple devices, stay with ‘IMAP’, which is the default option. If you do not want a copy of the changes you make in the mail to be shown on your web page, select POP. Rest of the process is the same.
Step 6. Enter the information, your hostname and username, as provided by your host provider.
Step 7. This is it. Once all the information has been updated, you will receive all the emails from your new mail account into the iPhone mail application.
